Armin's just going to hold the phone away from his ear for a moment as he tries to process what was actually said.]
15! AT HOME I'D JUST GRADUATED INTO THE SCOUTING LEGION - um, that is I'd I WAS IN THE ARMY BUT I WORKED ON A FARM BEFORE THAT AND I CAN DO CHORES AND CLEANING TOO. [At least he's still holding the phone a little way from his ear so although he's shouting it shouldn't be so loud on the other side this time.]
[Armin looks a little offended, but only for a moment when he realises that not everyone can. Perhaps this man comes from a world where it's not that common anyway.]
I can. Um, and I'm good with numbers too! [Shouting is tiring.]
[That was easier than Armin was expecting. He even forgets to shout this time.]
All right, see you there!
[And sure enough, he'll be there about ten minutes early, nervously fidgeting. He's still not really sure what to expect. But at least the place looks nice, and even if he'd rather be at home making sure that Eren and Mikasa are all right, there are some advantages of being here. The book he has in his hands, that he was reading on the way over and that he'll try and read while he's waiting to try and calm his nerves is one such perk.]
[Denmark will burst into the lobby from the backroom with all the energy that a country can possibly radiate, all grinning and excited about a possible new employee. He spots Armin and walks over, already offering a hand for a shake when he is still a few metres away.]
[So much energy... Armin's a bit startled, and maybe it's that that makes him start up and salute Denmark. Maybe it's his energy, maybe it's because he's so obviously older than him, maybe it's just because he's nervous and startled. But he can't take it back, and even if it's a little odd out of a military setting, he did tell Denmark he was in the army. He doesn't even think that a salute might be different where Denmark's from.]
[there is a moment of startlement, but the gesture is so obviously military, he cannot but reply in kind - even though he hasn't been a major military power in long enough for costums having changed since then, it's not like he isn't still in touch with his military.
At least the rank situation is pretty obvious, between a teenager and a country.
He stands straighter for a moment, nodding, then relaxes and orders Armin to stand still in whatever wording would be appropriate in the common language here HECK IF I KNOW something like "stand comfortable".]
[Armin notes that Denmark clearly has some sort of military background based on his response, even if it's not a response that he recognises. That's interesting.]
From Shiganshina, inside Wall Maria until it fell. ...Have you heard of it?
Nah. But ya clearly haven't heard of my home either, so I bet ya aren't even from the same world.
[He laughs nods towards a map-like thing in the corner. It seems to actually be a conglomeration of multiple maps, with little pins in it indicating where visitors to the resort were from.] Do ya find it over there?
How do you know that? [Armin's surprised, but he trots over to look at the map. It only takes him a moment to realise that his home lands aren't on there, it's too large and varied for that. And that makes it interesting enough for him to be distracted by it.]
My home isn't on here. [But after a moment he spots something interesting.] Japan? Isn't that the name of one of those who, ah... [He glances at Denmark, not knowing if he was a friend or not. And a little bit more examination helps him find Denmark as well, his fingers touching his spot on the map.] Are you named after the country?
[a single, but somehow still happy pin indicates the capital of the land that Armin is currently pointing at. Denmark shrugs.] Nah, I am Denmark.
[he'll point at some of the maps less connected to the one of Europe, more or less skilled maps of other worlds, sometimes only of cities or neighbourhoods, depending on how much the person knew or wanted to tell.] None of these, either?
[Armin glances at the other maps curiously, but then shakes his head.] These are all ones that other people have come from? Ah - then this must be the Earth that's mentioned in the welcome information. [He taps the first map, still curious to learn more. How can a human be a country?]
Definitely| But later, now we need ta have the whole seven metres of talk, if ya are fit ta work here and what ya can do and such. And then I can show ya around and introduce ya ta the other employees and then it all depends.
[He points to the backroom, and then heads over, expecting Armin to follow.]
Right! Of course. [Armin grabs his book then trots after Denmark, a little on edge. He's not really sure what to expect. He's never really had a job interview before, not really.]
I'm in the Scouting Legion! I think I mentioned that? [Wait, if Denmark doesn't know his world that's unlikely to mean anything to him.] Are there titans where you're from? Huge humanoid monsters that eat people.
Yeah! We have that, actually. But they're called Swedes where I'm from.
[He shrugs] They're on the other side of the water these days, though. Ya only have ta keep an eye out fer them when it gets cold enough that the water freezes and ya can walk over it. So usually they aren't really a problem these days.
[Armin is clueless. He can't remember enough of the names from the map that he only briefly saw, and in any case he probably wouldn't connect 'Swede' and 'Sweden'.]
Ah, that's interesting. Where I come from they won't move in the dark so you'd expect them to be less active in the winter. I wonder if Squad Leader Hanji knows more... [But he's getting off the subject!] They built walls to keep them out where I live. Wall Maria, the wall I lived behind when I was younger is the first of three, but we lost that five years ago. The Scouting Legion are those who go beyond the wall to where the titans are to fight them.
Is that a thing that happens in the north? [Excitement lights up Armin's eyes and he can't help but lean forward.] Is this where the land is covered in ice? Is that how it stays covered like that? The days do get shorter in winter, and it's just darker generally, where I'm from.
We go out to discover more about them. We don't know where they come from or how they breed - they don't have reproductive organs - so there's no way to diminish their numbers until we know that. But we also want to try and block the hole in Wall Maria so we can at least reclaim that part of the land.
Yeah, in Nor's and Fin's places there are areas where it doesn't get light at one point in the winter. But I'm further down, days are only fairly short... Makes getting up in the morning even harder. Don't ya hate that?
...And here we are. [He opens a door for Armin, gesturing for the younger man to step inside.]
Take a seat wherever ya want, if ya wanna sit on the couch just move the boxes ta the ground, but don't move the paper. And that red chair is a bit wonky, a certain person needs ta get his ass back here so he can fix it.
So! [and with that he'll let himself fall into the chair behind the desk in the middle of the room] What do ya think that ya want ta work here? What do ya feel ya're fit fer the best?
[Of course the names don't mean anything to Armin, but he nods anyway. Following him into the room, he glances around until he can find somewhere to perch and face Denmark. He's still nervous, but he's got enough to think about now that the edge has been taken off it.
And thankfully he did a little research on the place.]
Uh, well, I'm not sure what you need, but I have experience of cleaning and I used to do my own repair work on my 3d manoeuvre gear so I think I could expand on that. And grounds work too! I worked on a farm when I was younger. And I'm disciplined and a hard worker and I get on well with people. I lived with the other trainees and never fought with them! I used to mediate between Eren and Jean sometimes, although.

YEAH THIS IS DENMARK!
HOW OLD ARE YA?
[not that he wouldn't enjoy any age, but it will give him an idea what kind of tasks they can in theory do.
And then personality, but that cannot really be asked over the phone.]
